A Touch of Sensitivity
Shifting into Multi-Sensory Design // 2024 MFA Thesis Exhibition
“A Touch of Sensitivity” - Information Visualization / Interactive Installation
A tactile installation provides an interactive experience for the public to explore their texture sensitivity spectrum. Visitors engage with various textures, contribute to visualizations, and share experiences, fostering curiosity and understanding. This multi-sensory approach encourages dialogue and raises awareness about sensory sensitivities.
Sensory Sensitivity Stages
Multi-Sensory Poster Series
The poster series aimed to raise awareness of sensory processing issues, demonstrating how identical stimuli can produce different effects on individuals. The utilization of multi-sensory design allows for a more accurate representation of the differences in sensory sensitivities.
Multi-Sensory Poster Series - Set of 4, 24” x 36”
Atypical Sensitivity Stage - UV Printed on PVC Board 24” x 36”
This typography project aimed to create a poster using 5-8 keywords from a chosen text, exploring how typography communicates conceptual ideas visually and verbally. Focusing on Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), I highlighted sensory sensitivity and its effects, depicting different stages of sensitivity using color contrast variations. Augmented Reality was integrated into the posters, introducing sound variations corresponding to each stage, which garnered positive feedback for its innovative approach.
Each stage incorporated varying levels of physical texture to illustrate the progression of intensity. The project aimed to introduce multi-sensory design in Visual Communication, enhancing clarity and effectiveness in conveying the range of sensory sensitivity experienced in SPD.
Mild Sensitivity Stage - UV Printed on PVC Board, 3D Liquid Frisket Texture 24” x 36”
Moderate Sensitivity Stage - UV Printed on PVC Board, 3D Resin Printed Texture 24” x 36”
Severe Sensitivity Stage - UV Printed on PVC Board, 3D Resin Printed Texture 24” x 36”
